Connect Layerpath to an MCP assistant
Add the Layerpath MCP server to your AI assistant, sign in, and ask for a walkthrough from a Loom link. Then change, translate, or share it by asking.
What you can do with the MCP server
- Use Layerpath Agent from an MCP assistant, such as Claude Code or Codex.
- Ask for a walkthrough from a Loom link, in plain words.
- Change it by asking: rewrite steps, translate it, or blur names and email addresses.
- Get its share link, a video export, or a guide PDF.
Agent uses your Brand memory for your logo, colors, and tone, when it's set up. If you work in Slack, ChatGPT, or Claude, use the Slack app, ChatGPT plugin, or Claude connector instead. They also take screenshots and recordings.
Before you start
- An AI assistant that supports MCP servers.
- A Layerpath workspace where you're an Owner, Admin, or Editor. Viewers can't make walkthroughs.
- A Loom link of the task you want to show, up to 10 minutes long.
Walkthroughs made in Slack, ChatGPT, and Claude, or through MCP, are free until December 31, 2026, under our fair use policy.
Connect Layerpath to your assistant
| Setting | What to use |
|---|---|
| Server name | Layerpath |
| Server URL | https://agent.layerpath.com/mcp |
| Sign-in | Your Layerpath account, in your browser |
The install prompt adds the server for you and asks your assistant to sign you in:
Add the Layerpath MCP server. The server URL is https://agent.layerpath.com/mcp. Then sign me in to Layerpath so I can create and edit walkthroughs by asking. To connect your assistant:
- Copy the install prompt above.
- Paste it into your assistant and send it. Your assistant adds Layerpath and asks you to sign in.
- Sign in to Layerpath in the browser page your assistant opens or links to. You'll see a page that asks you to connect your assistant to Layerpath.
- Choose the workspace where your walkthroughs will be saved.
- Select Allow. You'll return to your assistant.
- Ask for a walkthrough from a Loom link, such as "Make a walkthrough from this Loom link: (your link)". When it's ready, your assistant gives you its share link.
In Claude Code, you can also sign in from the /mcp command: choose Layerpath, then select Authenticate. If you've connected Layerpath at claude.ai, Claude Code lists it as claude.ai Layerpath.
What you can ask through MCP
| To | Ask something like |
|---|---|
| Make a walkthrough | "Make a walkthrough from this Loom link: (your link)" |
| Choose how it's made | "Make a short walkthrough in Spanish from this Loom link: (your link)" |
| Leave out your brand voice | "Make it without our Brand memory" |
| Rewrite steps | "Make the callouts in that walkthrough shorter" |
| Translate it | "Translate my onboarding walkthrough to French" |
| Blur private details | "Blur names and email addresses in it" |
| Change the intro or outro | "Rewrite the intro of my onboarding walkthrough" |
| Rename it | "Rename that walkthrough to Invite a member" |
| Clean it up | "Clean up my onboarding walkthrough" |
| Share it | "Give me a share link I can send to a customer" |
| Export it | "Turn it into a video" or "Export it as a PDF" |
| Find one | "Find my walkthrough about password resets" |
Agent publishes each new walkthrough at a share link anyone with the link can open. Asking for a share link publishes an unpublished walkthrough. To keep one unpublished, say so when you ask for it.
For some changes, such as a cleanup, Agent describes a plan first and waits for your answer.
Agent can make mistakes. Review the walkthrough before you share it.
Limits
- Files attached in your assistant's chat don't reach Layerpath, so the MCP server makes walkthroughs from a Loom link only. For screenshots or a recording, use Layerpath, ChatGPT, or Claude instead. To change a walkthrough you made in Layerpath, ask for it here by name.
- Loom videos can be up to 10 minutes long.
- Voiceover isn't available through MCP. Add it in Layerpath, Slack, or ChatGPT.
Disconnect Layerpath from your assistant
- In your assistant: remove the Layerpath server from its MCP settings.
- In Layerpath: your connection stays listed on the Claude card in Settings > Integrations, where MCP assistants appear, until an Owner or Admin selects Disconnect next to your name. That also disconnects your Claude connector in the same workspace.
Walkthroughs already made stay in the workspace.
