What is Layerpath?
Understand how a Layerpath workspace, project, tour, steps, guide, and video export relate.
Layerpath turns one workflow into a project that people can experience as an interactive tour, a guide, or a video export. You edit one tour made of ordered steps; each output uses that source.
Guide viewers through a workflow step by step.
Give readers a scannable, copyable version.
PDF and copied stepsTurn the same workflow into a watchable video.
Three ideas to remember
- A project is the item you create and organize in a workspace.
- The tour is the source you edit inside that project.
- A step is one ordered part of the tour.
Edit the tour when you need to change the content, sequence, or guidance. The other formats use that same source.
Choose how people experience it
Interactive tour
Use an interactive tour when viewers should move through the workflow one step at a time.
Guide
Use a guide when viewers should scan or read the steps as a document. The guide mirrors the tour; it does not have a separate editor.
Video export
Use a video export when viewers should watch a rendered version without interacting with the tour.

| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Workspace | The container for projects and workspace-level areas such as team folders, Playlists, Brand memory (Beta), Insights, members, and settings. |
| Project | The top-level item you create, find, and organize. Each project contains one editable tour. |
| Tour | The source you edit inside a project. It contains the ordered steps. |
| Step | One ordered part of a tour. The step types are Intro, Image step, Video step, Blank step, and Outro. |
| Guide | A reading presentation that mirrors the tour and its steps. |
| Video export | A rendered version of the tour. |
A guide can also be copied as steps or downloaded as a PDF. A hotspot, Area, or callout can add guidance within a step; these are not additional step types.
One project, three viewer experiences
For example, one customer-onboarding project can keep a single tour as its source. The same ordered steps can support an interactive tour, a guide for a help center, and a video export for asynchronous training.
